Ian & Di Holding live and breathe Pinot Noir on their tiny organic vineyard perched up in the Omihi limestone hills of the Waipara Valley.
Di is a true artisan winegrower and winemaker and is to be found most often in the vineyard with her dogs. This is a distinctly low-tech family owned operation with a focus on natural and traditional techniques.
The resulting wines have a distinctive, even classical profile, with textures and aromas undoubtedly derived from the limestone clays into which the vines have sunk their roots. Fancrest wines are made solely from grapes grown on the Estate. The vineyard, winery and farm are BioGro (#5124) certified.
Ian and Di also manage a small herd of organic Angus and Highland cattle on pasture below the frost line.
