Muddy Water was planted in 1993 in Omihi as a pioneer grower in the area. It was the first certified organic vineyard in the region and grows ungrafted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Muddy Water also produces a small amount of award-winning Pinotage and skin fermented Pinot Gris.
From the outset, the mantra has been “Hand-Crafted – No Compromise”.
The winery is constructed from straw bales to take advantage of their natural insulation qualities.
